PREREQUISITE

BELANGRIJK : Voor het installeren en runnen van Ancestris, zult u eerst Java van Sun Microsystem (now Oracle) nodig hebben.

Om te checken welke versie u reeds hebt geïnstalleerd, kunt u steeds de webstek van "Verify Java Version" bezoeken.

An .exe file which make Ancestris easy to install. Just download it, execute it, and voilà. It's done.
Once Ancestris installed one time, it will be automatically updated using your internet connection.

Linux

• Ancestris :
  What is your Linux distro? Here are the links to download the right package. These are the information you need to know what to do.

• Ubuntu () - Here you can download the .deb package.
  
  

• Ancestris for Ubuntu (released on december 21st, 2011 generated on january 6th, 2012).
  But you may want to go further and add Arvernes among your repositories, to be automatically adviced once a new Ubuntu package is available. Follow the instructions given in the french section. Google translation engine will be your friend there. If you have problem to understand how to do, leave us a message

• Mandriva () - A .rpm package is maintained, so you can download it.
  
  

• Ancestris .rpm file (released on december 21st, 2011).
  Two options: when you download the file, you can open it using Software Installer, or you can download it, open a terminal, and as root, fire up the installation by running the following commands : "rpm -ivh ancestris*".

• Redhat () - The file is the same as the one for Mandriva, so download it in the Mandriva Section. See above the information given for Mandriva.

• Fedora () - The file is the same as the one for Mandriva, so download it in the Mandriva Section. See above the information given for Mandriva.

• Other Linux Systems ) - A .sh file is available. Download and execute it.
  
  

• ancestris-linux.sh (released on december 21st, 2011).
  Open a terminal, and you can put the file just downloaded, where you want and execute the following command "sh ancestris-linux.sh". This file can be installed on any Linux computers.

Mac

We provide a .zip file, which should be easy to install.

On the french section we give you a step by step process to download and install it on a Mac system. If you want me to do the same in that section, please give me screen captures of your own language, and I will create a special section for that. To download it, click on its name.

To our dutch speaking Mac OS users, we would like to hear from you. Can you give us some feedback, tell us if the application works well for you, running on Mac OS, if you have problems and what kind of problems (Does Ancestris is updated automatically without any problems, the translation we have begun in dutch is good or not? Do you have remarks?, etc)

Development releases

Development releases are posted from time to time. They fix different bugs that could have been reported, add improvements, etc.

Available as a zip file. Click on the link below, and pick up the latest file available. Unzip it, and voila.
