How to install Ancestris
It's so easy now, that there is no need to give explanation. [1]. You can if you want, take a look to the Download Ancestris section, everything is explained depending your operating system:
Ancestris manual and documentation
Two documents are available, both prepared by Jean Mordac (also known as Jeannot. Email: jean.mordac AT laposte DOT net).
This first one is the "starter" handbook. For Ancestris new users, it's a "must have". This document has been translated by Alain-Michel Diamant-Berger (amdbconsult AT gmail DOT com). Please, send to both of them (Jean and Alain-Michel) your suggestions, corrections, etc... it's the only way to improve it. Feedback is essential.

This guide is updated from time to time, so, even if you already downloaded it, it's better to check the latest version available, and download it, if it has been updated since your last visit.

The second one, is for advanced users. it explains almost everything about Ancestris. Actually, it's in french only. but it's a very good idea to download it once you have read the first one, "Ancestris for beginners". You will get everything you have to know to use and getting on with Ancestris.
- IMPORTANT : As I said, it's in french, but even if you don't speak french, you should download it, and browse it. There are lots of screenshots, and they are really self explanatory to understand almost everything.

We have made some Videos. They are in french, but I guess you will easily understand how Ancestris works simply by watching them. If you want us to create such video in english, feel free to ask us. We will do our best to satisfy your requests.
The online User Guide will be soon rewrited and then translated into english too.
Tips
You are a Linux user : There is a bug in the Java vitual machine which causes a difficulty for linux users to double click. So if you use Linux, it's possible that the double click you need in the ancestris standard editor doesn't work the way you want except if you do very quickly. It's a bug from Java, not ancestris. But there is a fix. Really fast and easy :
Etape 1 : Open a terminal
Etape 2 : type those two lines (or do a copy/paste, if you prefer) :
echo '*multiClickTime: 400' > $HOME/.Xresources
xrdb -merge $HOME/.Xresources
Notes
- ↑ Remarque : during the installation, all messages are in english, so it can't be easier. Click on "next" to the end of the process, and that's all.
